It was cool to have a tour guide who has lived in NYC for 36 years and was able to describe changes in the various communities as well as the morning of 9/11. We drove through SoHo, NoHo & past the meat packing district. I seriously need at least another week here to do everything.
It's seems so amazing to see it first hand. As with all the attractions of course we were ushered in and on our way through to the ferry line in no time. Not before a security checkpoint where my knee brace drew some attention because of its metal hinges. All good of course and when it came time to get on the ferry we thought great to be up top. Little did we know it'd be 100% cool/freezing hahaha.
As we arrived on the island we headed for the front of the statue. I was amazed at its size and was able to tick another thing off my bucket list. The girls brought their Polaroid cameras along and snapped some great memories together too. The city skyline from across the water is an incredible sight.
We decide to eat some lunch on the island and was cheered by the restaurant staff when we told them we were from Australia as our server yelled out "we've got some Australians in the house". We went to sit outside at a table until a seagull boldly stole some food straight from Bostons plate. Not only did it give her a fright but she immediately agreed we should find a seat inside.
After lunch we caught the next ferry back to Battery Park which had so many super cute squirrels. We passed the famous Charging bull statue on Wall Street and the girls giggled as they rubbed its testicles for good luck - as the story goes.
It was time to head to Century 21 which over here is not a real estate chain but a department store with lots of great deals of brand name clothes, shoes.......pretty much everything. Jamei enjoying shopping here the most and got her a few cool items. I picked up a pair of Sketches.
But it was now time to head home, grab some dinner and retire for the night. This blog has taken me 2 hours to write cause I've kept nodding off. But if I don't get this down I'll forget after I sleep. This holiday business is tiring work.
With threats of a blizzard in the next couple of days I'm not sure we will get to everything else we want to do. Fingers crossed the city is prepared but will also mean Boston will see snow fall for the first time.

So enjoying your blog my sweet. Keep having a blast!! Xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. We are really having a blast. Broadway might be beyond our reach with the snow storm setting in now. Fingers crossed we can get out amongst it soon.
