We are all so keen to see what Central Park looks like today so we pop our warm clothes on and have just a few blocks away to walk.
There are no words to describe the amazing sight of people and snow we saw. Locals out walking their dogs (complete with winter booties), running, kids being pulled by sleds, snow fights, people trying to sit in the snow covered benches.
Boston had a picture next to a tree where she could stand level with its lowest branch, which give you an idea on exactly how much snow we're talking about.
The girls had a bit of fun traipsing through the deep snow and admired all the gorgeous puppies walking past. There was this delicious golden retriever who pounced through the soft powdery snow and nearly disappeared underneath the snow each time . But seemed to be having a ball.
When it eventually got a bit too cold for the girls we walked back to the hotel and got out of our wet clothes. We headed to a diner downstairs for an early lunch where we chatted about how we might fill the final hours of our time here in NYC. It was unanimous- shopping!!!
We hit Macy's pretty hard today and all came away with some stuff. On our way back I stopped by a roadside vendor for some dinner. Garlic Chicken on rice. Omg. Yummy. Everyone is intrigued by our accents including this vendor. We often talk to people about how warm it is where we're from at the moment. To keep it simple we have been telling people we're from Sydney. People identify with that easily.
I make a call to the train line Amtrak to check the status of trains running tomorrow. All good there. No issues and will be running to time. By chance I'd selected a train that only runs weekdays so because the blizzard hit Friday night and we were leaving Monday morning there were no backlogs or interruptions. Perfect.
Time to get home and pack up making sure we have got everything we came with as well as our souvenirs and shopping.
It's an early start tomorrow though. Train leaves at 6.20am but gets in around 10am giving us plenty of time to fit in some Boston activities.
Can't wait for my Boston to be in Boston.
